the 3 E’s of Social Media Marketing

So I guess we all strive in the Social Media Marketing space to define what's important but we often get lost in all the noise, multiple platforms, ever-changing landscape, and the search for that so-called perfect plan.  In my opinion, though that's a black hole we need to avoid, firstly you need to admit there is no perfect plan and move on from there.  While I think you can come up with various key steps and define them in many ways I believe the 3 Es make sense and are understandable/ applicable to 99.9% of all our plans.

Empathy

The very definition of: a successful client engagement is to put yourself in their shoes - grasp their point of view, and to do this you need to empathize with them. Once you have understood their position, their goals, their pains, their budget, etc you can move forward and create a strategy that meets their expectations in all aspects.

Execution

You cannot wait around for the perfect plan, the social media landscape is forever changing and waiting for either your plan to be picture perfect or the planets to align in some manner just will not happen, so you need to optimize the execution and get your content out.  The only way to know if your content is having the desired effect is to put it online and wait and see, which brings me to the final E.

Evaluate

While we all know that perfection is impossible with the modern-day analytical tools and the available online feedback we can get close but only after we have put the content out there. Which is why the execution stage is important once you have shared that content we can use all those clever tools we know and love. To analyze, refine, and re-execute the plan., this takes us a step closer to reaching our goals and more importantly the goals of our client.
